2010 VW Beetle [Rendered For Your Pleasure]

When Volkswagen released the New Beetle in 1998 it was a huge retro hit, but as all things do; it got stale. We're told VW is currently working on a replacement model due to be released in 2010 as either a 2010 or 2011 model year product. But what should we expect from this new New Beetle?

We're told the Ragster concept, first shown at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, provided a slight glimpse into how a redesigned New Beetle could look. Our sources tell us the Beetle will lose some of its cutesy flair in favor of a more grownup look, something that will appeal to more than a few VW fans. The car will ride on the same next-gen Group A platform due out next year for pretty much every small and mid-size car in the VW stable, and feature similar choices from VW's lineup of four-cylinder engines. It's also a possibility VW will give U.S. buyers the choice of an 1896cc TDI inline-four that is currently serving duty in the Polo. A convertible model will follow the introduction of the coupe and there is also a possibility of a second four door Beetle model that will ride on the Golf platform. We’ve had KORSdesign illustrate what this new New Beetle could look like. Tell us what you think in the comments below.

New 2010 Ford Mustang GT Teaser Photo Reveals A Duck-Tailed Rear End [2010 Ford Mustang GT]

Dear god, it's yet another teaser shot of the 2010 Ford Mustang GT. This one shows off the sensuous duck-tail curves of the new rear end of Ford's pony car. Along with the strip tease, Ford's telling us

"The decklid spoiler is redesigned into a duck-tail form, with several options, including one that incorporates a rear-view camera, are available."

Feel free to ignore the poor grammar, Ford accidentally forgot they hocked the grammar check software for MS Word. Full comments below.

Coming or going, the 2010 Mustang casts an evocative, dramatic presence on the road. The enhanced muscular look of the 2010 Mustang carries through to the rear of the car. “It’s a huge improvement,” said Chief Designer Douglas Gaffka.

Design Manager George Saridakis and his team created a more-compact, wraparound look and enhanced Mustang’s width and stance through a new two-piece rear fascia. Reinforcing the Mustang’s heritage are the tri-bar tail lamps. The three individual red chambers, each lit with LED technology, are separated by two clear vertical back-up elements to ensure the tri-bar look is identifiable when lit or unlit. Continuing on the theme of embracing Mustang’s heritage with contemporary execution, the proud and distinctive three-piece central badge is a modern and expressive evolution of the iconic Mustang gas cap, executed in contrasting polished and satin finishes.

“We’re proud of Mustang’s heritage; it’s a fantastic car with a rich, proud history,” Saridakis said. “For the 2010 model, it was a huge challenge and also a huge honor to reference Mustang’s DNA and execute new forms in a modern way.”

2010 Porsche Panamera SPY SHOTS from Vegas

Porsche engineers were out in full gear, with a parade of at least 5 prototypes, giving photographers more chances to take pictures of the Porsche Panamera. The entry-level powerplant will be Volkswagen’s 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine with 300 bhp, while Porsche’s own drivetrain will be a direct-injection eight-cylinder petrol engine, available in naturally-aspirated guise (350 bhp) and with twin-turbo (560 bhp).

In addition – we’re also expecting the Panamera S version. The interior — although apparently still in its prototype stage — is highlighted by a center-mounted LCD screen and a typical Porsche gauge cluster. The exteriors seem to vary for instance some have exhausts similar to the Porsche Boxter, while some have quad-exhausts-seems the quad exhaust is for the turbo version. The Panamera is scheduled for an official presentation at the 2009 Geneva show.

Below, I’ve included Porsche Panamera spy pictures from 2 different posts from last year. What do you think of this car?
